Interesting topic, eh? :purplebou

And it's a real scenario.

We picked up a pregnant mama cat who was dumped on the road a few weeks back. She gave birth about 2 weeks ago in hubby's music room, which is disconnected from the trailer.

So the first week after kitten arrival, hubby wanted to keep his music room door shut. I would go out there to let her out and in about ever hour and half. Well this mama cat didn't like that and clawed her way out through the screen windows. Hubby didn't like that because of the potential of cat knocking over the fan onto his keyboards. (Fan was in the window... how she got around it, I do not know!)

So week two, hubby decided to keep the door propped open so she could come and go as she pleased.

Enter our cats, who decided to also enter music room and get cozy.

So hubby gets mad about having a "ton of cats" in his room and decides to shut the door again this week, with me on "door duty".

Today was day one. Mama cat has clawed her way through the screen window again already... Fan in the window leaning a bit.

So hubby will be home here in a half hour and discover this and be pissed again.

I can't do door duty constantly.

He feels like his room has been invaded by the other cats and does not want them in there.

I say it's only for another 2-3 weeks when these kittens are big enough to give away or come outside.

Door open or door closed?

You decide. :purplebou

Are there any no kill shelters around? Though if it is like here, they are probably all full :(

Can you find homes for the kittens? If not, I would think the kindest thing to do is get them all spayed (expensive, I know) or take them to the pound. I know it sounds cruel, but I believe it is far less cruel to have them put down than to have ferral kitties running around making more ferral kitties. I HATE people who dump their pets and I STRONGLY dislike people who do not spay and nueter their animals adding to the problem of over crowded shelters and wretched suffering for animals.

You are kind to take them in. I wish you luck.

King... no where else to put them. This mama is quite friendly, but it is obvious she is an outdoor cat...

Jory... I'm sure we'll be able to find home for most of them, but they won't be old enough to go for another 2-3 weeks. The mama cat, like I said, is friendly enough so we'll probably add her to our collection of cats, and she will be getting spayed as soon as the kittens are weaned. No one seems to want the older cats to take in around here.

We have rescued so many cats out here, it's unreal... but at least I have a mouse-free home! LOL
