Here’s the scenario.

A young woman comes into the ER unconscious and 19 weeks pg with her first child. She under goes some testing and the Dr’s find that she has a cancerous mass in her abdomen as well as on her kidney. The can do surgery but the type of further treatment she will need can not be done while pg. Her mother died a few years ago from an aggressive type cancer as well as a few of her aunts.

They give her two options the first being she can have the surgery now and the further treatment can be postponed for about 2-4 weeks so that the baby can reach an age of viability and it can be taken by C-section at the time.

2nd option is to terminate the pg so that she can begin treatment immediately.

You are either the woman or her husband.

Postpone treatment. My DH would know it was my wish to do that.

I would definitely opt to have the surgery now and postpone the treatment.

I would go home and do a bunch of research and likely visit a natural practitioner and begin a different course that would include keeping the baby to term and treatment.

Well I suppose it would depend on how fast the cancer would be growing in those 2-4 weeks of putting off treatment. If its a fast growing cancer and increases my odds of not being cured once I do have treatment than I would probably terminate the pregnancy.

I agree with most people

IF the surgery can be done and the treatment postponed and the baby live, I choose that option

IF the treatment cannot be delayed, then I choose abort the baby
