Would we share the same opinion of Mary if she were a MAN who had sex with a young girl and had 2 kids with her? Because he was in love with her?


I have seen posted that some folks think she is not a pedophile but why is she not? She was an adult having sex with a child. He was like 12 and 13 when it started. She was in her 30's... Why do we put a different face on abuse when it is a woman that is the aggressor and a male child is the victim?

I think 100% she is a pedophile. I think she deserved any and all jail time she got. I dont' think she should be banned from seeing him now as he is an adult. I don't feel she is a threat to her own children. No way would I want her around my minor son though!

I would feel the same if she had been a man.

I have posted that I don't think she is a typical pedophile and I stand by that. I have also posted that by the definition of the word she is technically a pedophile.

I don't know that I would see it differently if the genders were reversed. The only difference I do see, and granted it is a rather large one, is that the boy didn't have to go through pregnancy and birth and men aren't usually "tied" to the children in the way that women are in this society. So it could stand to reason that it would be more traumatic for a female. And let's make sure we are straight, this boy didn't feel traumatized. He was a fully consenting partner. I'm not saying it was "right" but that he wasn't exactly raped.

It is acceptable to me that they are now two consenting adults and want to have a relationship. I feel they should be left alone.

Obviosly the man does not believe he was hurt. He is 21 now and still wants to be with her. He has continued to want to be with her for the last seven years. And she with him. Seven years and they are still in love, or believe they are. That is a lot longer than many marraiges last. If this man still wants to be with her than I think that he wasn't harmed as much as we would like to believe he was.

The problem is that we really can't get into the heads of these two people. Was she just being predatory? Or did she really fall in love with this kid? Was he being manipulated? He he still being manipulated?

I don't like what she did. I don't aprove of it. But these statutory rape things are not always cut and dried. As we have seen, the age of consent varies greatly and we know that teens mature at different rates. To arbitrarily call every entanglement between someone over 21 and someone under the age if consent is short sighted and doesn't make sense.

Pedophile. A 12 year old is not mature enough to maturely handle the situation that Villi was put in. She is a pedophile, and so would a man who was having sex with a 12 year old girl. I can't IMAGINE anyone saying that an adult woman with a 12 year old boy is wrong, but an adult MAN with a 12 year old girl is okay?
Both are WRONG. Children are children.
