There has been talk of a cellphone book being published. Basically all cell phone numbers will be published in this book unless you pay extra for a private number.

Do you favor this? Why or why not?

I do. So many people use their cell phones nowadays and I hate when I don't have someone's number handy. They're becoming so much like home phones, a cell phone book seems pretty logical to me.

I don't agree, however, that you should have to pay to have an unlisted number for either a landline or cell phone. Why should you have to pay NOT to have something? You should have a choice of unlisted or listed at no charge for either.

I'd be pissed. I get 500 minutes a month. That is used for important calls to my doctor, family and friends since we no longer have a land line. The second you put my cell phone bill in the phone book, you open me up to having anyone and everyone call me and use up minutes that I don't wish to give them. Some of my family who call me show up as unavailable, so I can't go the "only answer when it's them route". I'm also not going to pay to have my name left off. I would raise holy hell if they tried to do that one.

I think it would be really rather difficult though to get a phone book of cell phone numbers, especially with all the other carriers AND the fact that you can now take your number with you. I'm thinking that many cell phone companies see their clients phone numbers as a high commadity and wouldn't let go of that private information for anything.
