If kids already can't wear ballcaps or t-shirts or for that matter, midriff-revealing tanks...should muslim girls be permitted to wear burquas that cover themselves from head to toe? If so, should they be required to wear the gym uniform for gym class? Or should there be a special exception made?

Special exceptions should be made for religious purposes. T-shirts, midriffs, etc, to my understanding, are being marginalized because such garments imply lack of respect (like wearing an 'eat me' t-shirt or something). It's missing the larger point to make it just about clothes per se.

Allow it. UNLESS the school has a uniform.

Clothing that reflects cultural-religious doctrine is definately OK in my book. Clothing with writing, statements or pictures that are merely an advertisement for ones beliefs should not be allowed. No one should be "special" in PE. Put those gym clothes on, drop and give me 20.

I have no problem with restricting clothing that is too revealing or inapropriate for school, like swim suits, halter tops, pants hanging so low you can not only see the valley and the rocks of gerbralter beyond. - ewwww - do these young men realize they look like a toddler with a loaded diaper in those things.

Religeous/cultural clothing should be tolerated.

if you go to a school with a uniform dress code, you should have to follow the dress code.

if the dress code of the school says NO scarfs, then, nobody should be allowed to wear a scarf. (hajib)

In gym class, there should be absolutely no excpetions, they should be in the required gym uniform. Tuff to run and play in a dress that hits your feet.

They should be allowed. For gym, if they can't wear the uniform, and it is a problem religiously, then maybe they need to apply for an exception to the class.

You can't force someone to ear what they consider to be revealing and immodest. I would even go beyond the issue of 'religion', and call that a form of sexual abuse.

Rubbish to the school uniform.

Muslim girls in the UK school are allowed to wear head scarfs., the UK has a uniform policy in both public and private schools.

The only time I think head scarves should be removed are when identification pictures need to be taken taken.
