If nothing else jury duty is giving me debate ideas :D .

Should bars and other establishments that serve alcohol be required to check customers for weapons ? Todays case was a stabbing that occured in a local bar , but he took a plea bargain so we all came home . Would you feel safer in bars that had these security measures ? Do you feel that metal detectors in bars are an invation of privacy ?

They should be able to install them. And then customers should be informed that they are there.

I don't see the harm in having them so yeah, why not.

I think it would be a huge nuisance (both in being accidentally set off and in cost to businesses) and wouldn't help save any lives - they're places that sell alcohol and I believe a broken glass bottle is the usual weapon of choice for those that come unprepared.

I don't feel unsafe in bars anyway.

As someone who works in a bar, I fail to see how it would benefit my particular bar to have one in place. If a bar was known for trouble, on the other hand, why not? Here, at the dance clubs, they do a quick pat down for a weapon's search.
