I'm in a critical state (CO). My husband and I remain undecided, but leaning toward McCain...although we are registered democrats. I will be watching the first debate on Friday with interest.

I sorta hate 'em both. I'm leaning toward QE II or queen Margrethe II (see pop's thread to this effect)

I think that Obama's luster will fade well before November and he'll lose when people get into the booth by themselves away from the media.

I might watch to see if that old bloke collapses.

It all depends. If you want Bush to have a 3rd term then by all means vote for McCain because that is what you will get. McCain is already surrounding himself with Bush cronnies. He is running deseptive false adds, and is starting a fear campaign.

McCain is an extremely different man from Bush. His views vary greatly and his voting record proves it. McCain was HATED by the conservatives in the Republican party, so that argument doesn't work with me. He's not stupid.
I also don't think his age should be a factor. My father is 73 and in better shape than most half his age. And a hell of a lot wiser.
Anyway, my point was this is a cool site to follow projections and you can see what a really close race this is!

Thank you, eva. But do I hear wrongly that Mr McCain is not in the best of health?

Apparently I do.

Good on him. I retract my previous comment.
McCain's only serious health issue was some skin cancer over 5 years ago with no recurrence. Since Obama has only recently quit smoking, McCain's heart (he hiked the Grand Canyon rim recently) is probably in better shape than Obama's.

Hah - googling same thing at same time! :)

SNAP! :D
Looking at the map today: OH, VA, FL, and NC need to flip if McCain is to win. I'd say FL and NC shouldn't be that hard to flip. He also needs to maintain CO and MO, who have both been flipping back and forth like cheap hookers.
I always wonder if the people who are polled are actually registered voters who are likely to vote...

VA is going to be a rather pivotal state. We haven't voted blue as a state in many elections, and it's awfully close right now. The last time that the polls showed a close lead for blue was with Gov Wilder, who showed a substantial lead in the primaries, and then only won by .1% or something like that.
Looking at this today, it sure looks like Obama has it in the bag. It wouldn't be a tragedy, imo, but I think it would be a mistake. He'll do okay, but I hope he has good, experienced advisors and listens to them carefully.

I disagree, I think it would be a tragedy.....
Why? Does he seem stupid or unethical to you?

I don't trust the guy. He has been connected to too many unethical people or groups for me to believe that his hands are clean.
I do worry about his associations as well. But not enough to think we're doomed if he is elected president. I don't think.

I honestly don't think that we are doomed, but I get a very bad feeling about Mr. Obama.

I disagree, in that I don't think that it would be a tragedy (much the opposite), but I think that a tragedy will follow, with his assassination.
WILL follow...like it's a foregone conclusion? Why in the world would anyone who believes that vote for the man? It would be like signing his death warrant!
Looking at this site today, my prediction is that OH, VA, and IN make or break this election, assuming that FL doesn't flip its usual GOP stance. Any combination of smaller # electoral vote states could make up for the loss of one of those states for either candidate.
I think it will be a very interesting election night, regardless of who wins! People may be staying up late to find out how NM and CO vote!
