This may sound really weird to you guys. But I'm just wondering who you guys think would be a better President if they were alive today? George Washington or Abraham Lincoln?

Let me know what you think...:)

Lincoln. Washington was too aristocratic.

Lincoln. He was more about unity than anything else.

Lincoln. Cause he is worth $4 more!

Hey guys,

If it was up to me, I think I would have to go with Washington!

I actually found a website that is doing this big discussion on this topic called Now Debate This. You'll have to do a google search for it. It's really neat to see some of the people's responses.

You should check it out! It's cool to see people's responses.

I'd go with Washington. He was more in tune with the true meaning of the Constitution. Lincoln violated state's rights by forcing those wanting to withdraw from the Union from doing so. Washington would never have taken such a drastic step to preserve the Union.

So really, Lincoln was more patriotic than Washington was because he was more for the United States than Washington was? ;)

Lincoln or Washington? Of course Lincoln wanted to preserve the Union....even if it meant beating states into submission. Washington, on the other hane, would probably have let states invoke their state right to withdraw from a Union that they didn't want to be a part of any more.

History has distorted Lincoln's motives as well as his means. He didn't free the slaves because he was altruistic. He did so to cause financial hardship in the South, so that they would lose their economic ability to wage war.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the final debate for this question is happening live at (spamalicous).

You can see it live on August 19th at 7 P.M. EST.

And it's pretty cool, because apparently we get to vote on who we think should be the winner.

I agree. All slaves being freed were nothing more than an act of repercussion against those in the states that seceded, too. The slaves in the northern states weren't freed by the Emancipation Proclamation.

Washington since he would understand what the founders ment when they wrote the constitution and he could tell us.

Washington. Not to put Lincoln down, but Washington was the man.
