Song lyrics. Harmless...or are they?

Do you think certain song lyrics are influential to some people? Do you believe they entice certain behaviours or actions? Explain.

I don't think song lyrics will influence people to do something. I think it is a cop out defense, just like hen someone says a violent movie made them do soemthing violent.

I agree the mental illness/imbalance is likely to be preexisting. Song lyrics or repeated exposure to a particular movie can spark actions in some.
Can you blame the movie or music? No. I can blame the parents for allowing this sort of exposure if it is a case involving minors though.
Adults have to be responsible for what they choose to watch or listen to. They have to be responsible for their actions.
I don't think it is uncommon to find in serial killers possession certain music and movies that relate to their crimes and delusions.
