Should abortion remain legal?

Even though I am pro-life I believe abortion should remain legal as women will always have them. If it becomes illegal there will once again be "back alley" abortions resluting in the death and sterilization of many women.

At least most legal abortions are reasonably safe for the woman. Even though I strongly dissagree with abortion I don't want to see illegal abortions preformed either.

You betchya. Darn right it should remain legal, for all the reasons you just stated and more. No matter what I would choose, I don't have the right to force my views and my moral code on someone else. I can always choose not to have one, the choice should remain for those who would want that choice.

I'd be happy to see the current number of abortions in this country CURTAILED due to stricter laws about who can have them and why. I do believe that a lot of the women choosing abortions of convenience would not opt for a "back alley abortion" if abortion suddenly wasn't available, they'd simply make a different choice. I also think that people would start thinking a little harder about being responsible with birth control and making sexual choices if they knew that having an abortion was not such an available option.

Note - although I am against abortion, I am not saying "get rid of abortion entirely". I am not talking about women with life threatening medical conditions who need to end a pregnancy. I am talking about the 90% + number that are performed for reasons such as "it's not the right time" or "I want to finish college", etc.

I just feel that the convenient accessibility of abortion in this country has made a lot of people very sloppy about preventing conception and sexual choices. I do not believe that the majority of the 4 million abortions performed here every year are due to major trauma (rape, incest, medical emergency) OR failure of accurately used birth control. I think the pure numbers of abortions performed here each year are a travesty.

I wish there were no abortion period. I hate it when it's used as a form of birth control. Abortion is NOT a birth control method! It's not an easy solution to a "problem" It's something that should be given a lot of thought before doing.

Hmmm. Well I can't say if that is true or not. I haven't done any kind of research or interviewed any who are receiving abortions to know why they are having them. It really isn't my business anyway. All I know is I'm not going to force what I may or may not believe on someone else by taking a service away because I think it's wrong.

I agree with you 100% for that exact same reason. I don't believe in abortion, but I don't have the right to tell another woman what to do with her body. Just like I wouldn't want someone to force me to have an abortion.

Abortion should be illegal. Because murder is illegal and I feel that abortion is murder.
