What do you think should happen to these boys?
Parents Tell Story Of Beaten Boy
February 23, 2004 - The parents of a Millard North High School student, who police say was beaten by classmates last week, said it has been a rough week for their son.
Ryan Drews was allegedly beaten by two teens Thursday while a third teen videotaped the assault. As many as 20 other students watched. Drews was left with a broken elbow, an injured neck, a black eye and cuts to his face and lips.
"To have somebody who's sitting there -- bleeding, crawling for the door -- and they just keep pounding away. That's sick," said Michael Drews, Ryan's father. "It was totally unprovoked. It was a surprise attack. He had no clue this was coming."
The Drews say the suspects came to their house to retaliate against Ryan and that the teens believed he turned in students for smoking marijuana. The teens knocked on the door Thursday.
"They were being very nice to Ryan, but once he opened the door and started leaning more of his body towards them, they just grabbed him and started beating him," said Drews.
Drews added that Ryan's not just hurt physically -- many of the teens who watched the fight were people Ryan considered his friends.
Tyler Nutty, 16, and David Haith, 15, allegedly beat up Ryan Drews. Investigators say Dane Underwood, 16, videotaped the whole thing. All three face misdemeanor assault charges.
